Club & Society Awards
Club or Society of the year
This award is to recognise an outstanding society this year. This society will have been active, consistently engaging with students and have gone above and beyond to excel. Where possible, please provide photos/images to support your nomination.
Essential:
-Had consistent meetings and interactions with their membership
-Worked to increase membership throughout the year
-Follow the values and processes of the Students’ Union proficiently
-A friendly and approachable committee
-Communicate well with the Union, University and the wider student body
-Host a diverse range of events, activities and participation opportunities
-Promote the Club/Society through different channels such as social media, webpages,
posters, as examples
-Follow EDI principles and be accessible to all students on their campus
Desired:
-Evidence of fundraising for your society
-Evidence of giving back to the local community
-Multiple nominations
-15+ memberships this year
Committee of the Year
Awarded to a club or society whose current success is the result of a set of devoted committee members working incredibly hard to develop what the group can offer.
ESSENTIAL:
-A strong committee that has shown dedication to their group and works in the interest of their members
-Has a good working relationship with their Campus’ Student Engagement Coordinator and any other relevant staff
-High level communication with members and each other
DESIRED:
-Regular, structured committee meetings.
-Evidence that the committee has dedicated a lot of time to running the group and provided regular opportunities to their members.
-A creative approach to hosting events and/or club/society activities.
-Evidence to show a committee involving the club/society in projects and delegating jobs.
Club/Society Person of the year
This is for someone that has prioritised their Club or Society this year. They are an integral part of sessions and improve the experience of members.
ESSENTIAL:
-Possess a membership for the club or society you are nominated for
-Be a dedicated member of their activity who goes above and beyond to improve the experiences of others
-Be consistently present at sessions
DESIRABLE:
-Have contributed to a fundraiser or event ran by the Society/Club and played a leading role in it
-Worked to increase membership this academic year
-Have evidence of the impact they have had on the group

Student Voice & Community Awards
UG Course Rep of the Year
Awarded to one special Undergraduate Course Rep who has shown extra commitment to their role, ensuring great student engagement and dedication to enhancing the student experience. The following criteria will be considered for UG Course Rep of the Year:
-Handled a difficult issue or challenge effectively and professionally.
-Actively gathered and represented student feedback throughout the year.
-Personally made a positive impact on the experience of their peers.
-Attended Course Rep meetings regularly and contributed meaningfully.
-Built strong relationships with both students, the Students’ Union and academic staff.
-Demonstrated passion, consistency, and leadership in the role.
PG Course Rep of the Year
Awarded to one special Postgraduate Course Rep who has shown extra commitment to their role, ensuring great student engagement and dedication to enhancing the student experience. The following criteria will be considered for PG Course Rep of the Year:
-Handled a difficult issue or challenge effectively and professionally.
-Actively gathered and represented student feedback throughout the year.
-Personally made a positive impact on the experience of their peers.
-Attended Course Rep meetings regularly and contributed meaningfully.
-Built strong relationships with both students, the Students’ Union and academic staff.
-Demonstrated passion, consistency, and leadership in the role.
Best Academic Campaign or Win of the Year
This award aims to reward students for their hard work as a Course Representative this year. Course reps feed back on a wide range of issues and collaborate with each other as well as staff to make changes to students' academic experience. This award is for the best ‘Win’ by a Course Representative this years.
Criteria:
-Worked closely with other course reps to challenge practices and make a tangible change to a University policy or behaviour.
-Form a productive working relationship with staff and be a ‘critical friend’ when necessary
-Utilise Course Rep training and resource to lobby and enact change
-Handled the issue professionally and effectively with student feedback at the core of the campaign
Volunteer of the Year
This award celebrates a student who has shown outstanding dedication and passion for volunteering, making a positive impact within the university or wider community. The following criteria will be considered for Student Volunteer of the Year:
-Demonstrated consistent commitment to volunteering throughout the year.
-Made a meaningful difference to individuals, groups, or causes through their actions.
-Shown leadership, initiative, or innovation in their volunteer work.
-Inspired others to get involved in volunteering opportunities.
-Recognised through high levels of nominations and positive feedback.
This can be awarded to any student who has volunteered in any capacity and/or multiple capacities within the Students' Union, such as Campus Officer, Student Trustee, Committee Leader, Course Rep, events or a general volunteer.
Outstanding Contribution to Campus Life
This award goes to a student who enriches the experience of others and uplifts the atmosphere of their campus. This student may have led an event, campaign or extracurricular activity that has had a significant impact on the experience of students. The criteria is:
-Ran an engagement opportunity which was accessible to all students on campus
-Promoted the event through multiple channels including word of mouth and direct interactions with students
-Be a kind and approachable personality for students
-Evidence of the positive impact this has had on campus life
-Have multiple nominations from students that can attest to the contribution one has had on their experience.

Staff/Teaching Awards
Lecturer of the Year
This award recognizes any lecturer/tutor from the University who has gone above and beyond their duties. This is the criteria that your nomination will be based upon:
-Provides students with information about how they can locate up to date resources to aid with their educational development.
-Uses alternative methods of teaching that engage students and deliver entertaining and interesting lectures using innovative teaching methods.
-The use of their own research and/or valuable experiences to enhance your learning.
-Motivating and inspiring students to reach their full potential.
-Enthusiastic and passionate about the subject
-Easy to approach regarding course relates issues
-Provides clear and well-structured feedback that is concise and easy to understand, which is given to students in a timely manner.
Support Staff of the Year
Whether they are a seasonal speaker, guest speaker, a Learning Support Assistant, Mentor, Communication Support Worker or a Specialist Study Skills Tutor, this award recognizes the academic support staff that help students keep going.
This is the criteria that your nomination will be based upon:
- Continues to aid students professional development.
- Encourages and supports students through extra curricula activities.
- Remains professional but cares about the well-being of their students.
- Supports all students ensuring all University and placement work is up to date.
- Good problem solver.
- They are easily contactable and accessible.
Technician of the Year
This award recognises the amazing support and contributions of technical staff on campus. The criteria for this award is as follows:
-Enthusiastic and passionate about the skills they support and teach
- Fosters a safe environment to learn and experiment.
- Remains professional but cares about the well-being of all their students.
-Easy to approach and a good problem solver.
-Received stong student feedback and high levels of nominations.
Personal Tutor of the Year
This is for a staff member that has shown unwavering support to the students they advise, ensuring that they are on the right path and have the knowledge and tools to navigate University. The criteria is as follows:
-Supports students with academic issues, and signposts them with other problems when necessary
-Fosters a safe environment for students to flourish and divulge information
-Advises students on placements, professional development and career opportunities
-Easily contactable and present
-Receives multiple nominations from students they tutor

This award recognises a member of the teaching staff who has demonstrated a strong commitment to promoting equality, celebrating diversity, and creating an inclusive learning environment. The following criteria will be considered for Commitment to Equality, Diversity & Inclusion:

-Actively supported students from underrepresented or marginalised backgrounds.
